Hi all! Masters Champs taking place right outside Buffalo just finished up. This was an excellent event filled with two great days of racing in some awesome areas. The route gadget for day 1 is here, and day 2 is here. Here are the results for day 1, day 2, and overall. Here’s a link to day 1 and day 2 photos. Below is a brief interview with all the US team members who showed up.

Tyler – Day 1
Holden – Day 2 was more fun but did better on day 1, so day 1.
Evalin – Day 1 because it was faster but day 2 was a bit nicer
Paige – Day 1
Oriana – Day one because I got to spend more time with my friends and my course went a bit better
Syd – Day 1 cause I didn’t run day 1
Hana – Day 2
Shawn -Day 1
Kirsten – I did better on day 1 but day 2 was more fun
Keegan – Day 2 was a bit more technical so that was more fun, but really enjoyed the woods on day 1.

What was your favorite control?

Tyler – Control 6 day 1
Holden – Control 10 day 2
Evalin – Control 13 day 2
Paige – The go control

Oriana – Number three day 2! I followed Keegan’s expert advice and NAILED it and not that easy control.
Syd – Control 5 day 2
Hana – Control 7 day 2

Control 5 Day 2 – Orange

Shawn – None of them (or maybe all of them?)
Kirsten – The 3 I never got to
Keegan – Control 17 day 2

What were your overall thoughts on the weekend?

Tyler – This was my first race since May so I was just getting back into it. Was very happy with day one, day two though was less good. Overall pretty happy though
Holden – Day one was amazing, great success (Borat style), day two was a bit soul-crushing, between a 17-minute mistake and the map flip revealing lots more map. In general, though it was a good development weekend
Evalin – Quite fun and nice to have Mikaela from Australia there. Happy with the races.
Oriana – Really good fun! Two very interesting, very different parks. Not feeling great about my races but like, oh well!
Paige – It was amazing
Syd – It went well but kept overrunning my controls.
Hana – It was quite a challenging weekend. Day one I focused on my running speed and on day two worked on my technical skill. Very fun overall.
Shawn – Absolutely beautiful loved it, very diverse terrain. First day was good second was not as good.
Kirsten – Very far trip but the orienteering and friends more than made up for it!
Keegan – The terrain was very fun to run through and it was great to see so many people again. Didn’t race super well, but that’s okay. We also got some really good ice cream which was exciting but the West Point cadets wouln’t join us which was less exciting.

What were your favorite jerseys you saw?

Tyler – German (Not sure there was one)
Holden – Army
Evalin – The two I wore (an Australian club top and a New Zealand National top)
Oriana – Keegan’s Swiss top because it matched my Swiss jacket
Paige – Hong Kong (Which Oriana wore home but didn’t race in)
Syd – US TOP!!!!
Hana – Australia
Shawn – Brazilian (Apparently actually seen)
Kirsten – Keegan’s Fleece
Keegan – NEOC top

What would you get at an ice cream store if your parents said you could get whatever you wanted?

Tyler – Fro yo with hot fudge
Holden – Birthday cake cake mix with cookie dough and cheesecake bits, no chocolate, no cherry but sprinkles are good.
Evalin – Something caramelly, brownie-y and chocolate-y
Oriana – Anything with rainbow sprinkles
Paige – Raspberry Sorbet
Syd – Chocolate chip cookie dough
Hana – Chocolate with brownie chunks
Shawn – Mint cookies and cream with hot fudge
Kirsten – Black raspberry shake
Keegan – A flight of every flavor they have washed down with an Oreo Frappe.
